Introduction to Deuce to 7 Triple Draw Rules
Deuce to 7 Triple Draw rules are quite different from the staples of the poker world, Texas Holdem, Omaha, and Seven Card Stud. In 2-7 Triple Draw, players are dealt five cards and are allowed to discard and draw replacement cards three times during a hand. The goal of Deuce-7 Triple Draw is to have the lowest 5 card poker hand. The best hand in 2-7 Triple Draw is 23457 with no flush.
Basic 2-7 Triple Draw Hand
Play begins with each player receiving five cards from the dealer. The first round of betting begins with the player to the left of the big blind. Then the first draw occurs. Players may discard any number of cards, from 0 to 5. The dealer deals replacement cards to the player to the button’s left, collects the discard cards into the muck, then continues on with the next player.
If a player does not discard any cards, he or she is choosing to stand pat for the hand. After the first draw is complete, a second round of betting begins. This is followed by the second draw, the third round of betting, and then the third and final draw.
After the last draw, players bet for the final time, and the hands are revealed. The best hand takes down the pot. If there are not enough cards to complete a drawing round, the discarded cards are reshuffled to form a new deck.
Deuce to Seven Triple Draw Hand Rankings
As mentioned earlier, 23457 with no flush is the best possible hand in 2-7 Triple Draw. This is because Aces are always high in 2-7 Triple Draw, and if a player had a 23456, that would be a straight and a very bad hand for 2-7 Triple Draw. 2-7 Triple Draw is interesting in that the worst poker hand is the best hand in the game.
The second best hand is 23467 no flush, 23567 no flush is the third best hand and so on. 2345A is the best hand you can have with an Ace, and because Aces are high, this is not a straight. The ranking for the rest of the hands should be fairly intuitive.
