Jacks or Better Video Poker Rules

Jacks or Better is a well known video poker game at CasinoRoom and 888 Casino on Net. They have been offering this to their players for several years and it is one of the most popular video poker games on the internet today.

For those of you that have never played this game before, it is regular 5 card draw poker. In order to at least make your bet back, you need to make a hand of at least a pair of jacks or higher. Since you are not playing against other players at other video poker machines, you are only playing to make the best possible hand. The pay-outs increase as you make a pair, 2 pair, 3 of a kind, a straight, a flush, full house, 4 of a kind, straight flush, all the way up to a royal flush.

Jacks or Better at Pacific PokerThe pay-outs for each hand is as follows:

  • Jack's or Better: 1:1
  • 2 pair: 2:1
  • 3 of a kind: 3:1
  • Straight: 4:1
  • Flush: 6:1
  • Full House: 9:1
  • 4 of a kind: 25:1
  • Straight Flush: 50:1
  • Royal Flush: 800:1

The Jacks or Better video poker lobby is very clean, well organized and rather easy to navigate through. They offer the ability to play both single hand video poker machines as well as multi hand video poker machines. If you sit down at one of the multi hand video poker games you can play 3 hands at once, 5 hands at once, and even 10 hands at one time if you are feeling lucky.

The interesting thing about playing Jacks or Better multi handed is if you make a pair or anything better in the cards that you were orginially dealt, if you choose to hold them, they are held for you in all the other hands. For example, if you were playing 3 handed, and you were dealt two Queens and the other 3 cards you chose to fold, those same two Queens would show up in the other two hands. As a matter of fact, any cards that you choose to hold will appear in the other hands that you are playing at the same time. When you click deal again, the machine will deal you how many cards you need and hopefully you make "Jacks or Better"

An interesting feature of this video poker game is the option to allow you to double your winnings after you make a hand of "Jacks or Better." Lets say you just won a hand that paid you 15 dollars. Once you win, a "double" button will flash on your control pannel that allows you to try your luck and double your winnings. Of course if you lose, the money that you just won is gone.

How Does the Double Your Winnings Feature Work?

If you choose to try and double your money, the video poker machine will lay down 5 cards face down. You need to pick one of the cards, the machine will turn that card over for you. Lets say it is a 5, this is a good card, because the next card you need to pick is a card higher than a 5 for you to win and double your money. If you successfuly pick a higher card you will be asked if you would like to double the money you just won again. Obviously, you have the option to deny this wager, and collect your winnings. You can choose to try and double your winnings as much as you want, but you have to have a lot of gamble in you to do this!

The video poker lobby has multiple play money rooms and real money rooms with 30 video poker machines in each room. This means it is never dificult to find a machine to play at. Also, each room allows you to make different denominations or bets. For example, 10 cents, 25 cents, 50 cents, and a dollar. These are not the limits of bets you can make, just the denominations. The game "Jacks or Better" does not really take a lot of skill.

The software automatically selects which cards you should hold, for example if you have a face card, or have 4 to the flush. You of course have the option to turn this feature off, and make your hold selections your own choice. This is a game that involves a lot of luck and very little skill if any. This game can be a lot of fun when it runs good and you can double your winnings 2 to 3 times with the "double" feature.
