I enjoy large poker tournaments. I understand the chances of winning are slim, but that is part of the reason to play them. It is a simple idea of risk and reward. When playing a cash game if your up you can leave with the chips in your pocket, however, if your in a tournament being the chip leader does not always mean money.
I play more for fun than trying to take home the prize so when I get knocked out it is disappointing, but it is not like I care about the money. I was playing a tournament at PokerRoom.com and was dealt pocket QQ first hand. After a 5x raise and a few calls action is to me on the button. Knowing low limit multitable tournaments I know I have the best hand, it all lies in luck.
I push all-in. All of the players that called the 5x raise don’t even blink when I re-raise 14x the bet. 3 callers vs my QQ. Player A has A3 off, B has A6, and C has KJ. I am in a good situation preflop, only 2 over cards leaving 5 over cards that could beat me. The window is a K and I was done.
The moral of this story is not to say how bad other players are, but instead to show that you can not avoid a poker maniac no matter where your playing so just learn how to play with the maniacs and learn to be an etiquette player, no one likes a a$$hole in the chats

After a long time playing very low limits at multiple different poker rooms I moved up to the $1 tables. Although this is still considered low stakes by some it is a large step from the $.25 cent tables.
I can say with relative certainty that the $1 tables were much looser and easier then the $.25 tables. I attribute this to the “starving student theory.” Poor students with low amounts of spare cash but a high to medium skill level combined with the people that truely do not care about such small amounts of money make the $.25 tables nearly impossible to win at because of the inconsistancy of the tables.
Finally, after being fed up with the play at lower limits I moved to higher stacks and found myself up to $600 dollars quickly which I cashed out some of the money and played with the remaining balance. I do not suggest that all players should do this, check my Poker Bankroll Management Article before you decide to move up in limits.
I found success at moving up but not all players have the required skill levels and should not do so if they have limited funds. I also must say that with higher reward comes higher risk and a good method to employ is to cash out any winnings so money left in your poker account is all the “house” money. Good luck and Ill se you at the high stakes

Today was a terrible day at the tables. I know everyone has a bad day here and there, today was mine. The bad beats kept coming and the maniacs kept calling. I finally called it a night after pocket 22 hit a 2 on the river winning after being only 5% and knocking me out of a tournament. I consider myself a very patient player that does not tilt often but after tonight I was steaming. The best thing to do in this situation is to do exactly as I did realize it is “One of those nights” and stop playing.. quit.. x out.. turn off the computer. Do whatever it takes to stop playing. I say this because once a player gets in a state of tilt for a night it becomes almost impossible to win. A player in this state will often make over the top all-ins or bad all-in calls turning you into dead money.
On a different note I have started to write strategy articles for large tournaments. I added a whole section devoted to tournament strategy and plan on adding articles for all stages of a tournament. Check out my Large Poker Tournament Strategy articles

I am tired of bad beats, but I also know there is not much one can do about them. I accept them and go on. For beginners this might not be so easy since they may be playing with most or all of their money, so I decided to do something about it. I will pay you for your bad beats. Check out my Bad Beat Challenge to find out the rules.

I watched AdioKing play the final table at the $5,000 affiliate tournament. He played solid poker and in the field of 179 affiliates he came in 1st. The amazing victory won him a nice $1350. I know if I had been playing he wouldnt have had it so easy
. Congrats AdioKing!
Still working on my site… I want it to be perfect when I launch it. Ironing out the small details and getting closer day by day.

I did not knowhow difficult it truely is to make a website. I am still in the process of uploading content to my website and it is looking good, but it takes soooo long. I respect all webmasters much more now because of the hours they must log to get their sites up and running. I’ll hold off on linking you all to the website since it still need a lot of work. I am hoping to get my site up and running within a week so check back for the link.
